Global Knowledge Philippines and its official business partner IBM (International Business Machines ) Corporation, together with Hp Philippines, Kaspersky Lab- South East Asia, FireMon, ComClark, Converge ICT Solutions, Inc., Fortis Technologies, Next Generation Technologies Global, Inc, Secure IT Solutions and other supportive sponsors successfully launched the biggest two-day IT event of the year entitled, What the Hack?!: IT Security Summit Security held at the SMX Convention Hall in SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig last May 23 to 24.

The two-day IT Security Summit 2014 was composed of five major events namely the Cyber Warfare Four, Mr. and Ms. Cyberworld Cosplay Ramp 2014, The Ultimate Gamer, The Hacker Games and the Student It Security Summit. Speakers and judges of the said summit came from prestigious IT Business Companies here in the Philippines and Abroad such as IBM- United Kingdom, Kaspersky Lab- South East Asia, Practical Action- Dunsmore, United Kingdom, EzyAvantus Singapore, FireMon Inc., AltoCirrus Plus Inc., Secure IT Solutions- Greer and Gobson Inc. and Global Knowledge Philippines.

Ms. Roselle Reig, the CEO of Global Knowledge Philippines officially opened Day One of the IT Security Summit 2014 and introduced the two keynote speakers for Cyber Warfare Four namely Mr. Dennis Paul Niño Sanchez, Ethical Hacker of Ec-Council and CIO of Global Knowledge Philippines, and Mr. Dwayne Greer, Jr. the founder of Secure IT Solutions and Vice President for Business Development at Greer and Dobson Inc. Mr. Sanchez and Mr. Greer Jr. told the participants about the newest and most sophisticated cyber attacks.

Meanwhile, Armed Forces of The Philippines Major Joey Fontiveros and DOJ- NBI’s forensic expert Mr. Sherwin Uy keenly discussed about the Philippine Government and Law when it comes to Cyber Warfare.

To make sure that our PCs, laptops and other computer devices are highly secure and user friendly, speakers from FireMon Inc., Kaspersky Lab- South East Asia and IBM- United Kingdom pointed out the importance of Digital Forensics, Penetration Testing, Visual Analysis Technology and activating the firewalls, IPS (intrusion prevention system), and other defensive technologies in our computer systems. Other speakers were Mr. Xander Solis and Mr. Roger Whitely of FireMon Inc., Mr. Jimmy Low of Kaspersky Lab- South East Asia, and Mr. Mark Ploszay of I2 IBM- United Kingdom.

The second day of the IT Security Summit gave birth to the Hacker Games 2014, The Ultimate Gamer, Mr. and Ms. Cyber World Cosplay Ramp 2014, and the Student IT Security Summit.

Mr. Kusantha Gunawardhana of EzyAvantus Singapore highlighted the most effective ethical hacking techniques that could save millions for IT Companies and business corporations worldwide while Mr. Meric Mara of AltoCirrus Solutions discussed the basic features Raspberry Pi Demo and talked about Reverse Engineering and Sandboxing.

For the Student IT Security Summit which was attended by IT students and IT enthusiasts all over the Philippines, Mr. Dennis Sanchez gave some useful tips about basic IT security essentials such as using strong passwords, buying an antivirus software, installing system updates and activating the computer’s firewall.

The biggest IT Event of the year ended with awarding of the winners of the contests and gave freebies to lucky raffle winners.
