More than 1,000 students and teachers from all over the country filled the AFP Theater in Camp Aguinaldo on Sunday, September 7, 2014 for the 4th EdukCircle International Convention on Marketing and Advertising. The event was hosted by EdukCircle International Center for Communication Studies (ICCS).
EdukCircle ICCS is an institution that aims for the advancement and evaluation of communication practices in various academic fields. Its programs are recommended by the Commission on Higher Education and supported by over 200 universities all over the Philippines.
This year’s convention espoused the theme “Marketing and Advertising Strategies in a Digital Media Environment.” The convention was designed to provide the participants recent studies and developments in the field of marketing and advertising.
The last set of speakers were Youth Power Radio hosts and Voice of the Youth members Andrew San Fernando and Ada Cuaresma, who discussed Marketing and Advertising to Generation Y. They talked about why zooming in marketing and advertising efforts on Generation Y or “Millennials” is essential in this day and age. They also discussed the main characteristics of Millennials and how these characteristics influence the buying power of the said generation. They provided marketing and advertising tips to the audience, centered on social media marketing and having an online presence.
The convention was concluded with the second part of The 4th EdukCircle Awards. EdukCircle recognizes the exemplary performance of people in media and entertainment industry who promote advancement and evaluation of communication practices in various academic fields. Some of the awardees who were present were Carmina Villaroel, Zoren Legaspi and their twins Mavi and Cassy, Bernadette Sembrano-Aguinaldo, Robin Padilla, Ryzza Mae Dizon and Anne Curtis. The first part of the awarding ceremony happened last August 17 at the UP Theater in Diliman, Quezon City.
