PAPAL VISIT PH – COVERAGE (January 15-19, 2015)
The historical and memorable event that moved the Filipino when Pope Francis visited the Philippines, became VOTY’s first move to train its members in the field of news and broadcasting.
February 16, 2nd day of the Papal Visit, my team, Rian Carmelo, Jayrell Chua, Mario Cartagena, Shelley Pabustan and Carmella Escota covered the Pope’s activity in Manila Cathedral and series of motorcade.
The Pope arrived in Manila Cathedral at around 11am, and different stories were created, bringing positive vibes to the people.
At 1PM, our team headed to Roxas Boulevard near Pedro Gil to see Pope Francis for the 2nd time.
We interviewed different people about their feelings when they see the Pope.
And at 5pm, Pope Francis’ motorcade from the Apostolic Nunciature to SM Mall of Asia Arena.
And the 2nd day of VOTY News Coverage was a success, on the 3rd day, our Tacloban Correspondent Cristine Ladrera has to do with the Papal Visit in Tacloban City.
10AM, Saturday, 17th of January, Pope Francis’ held a mass at the DZR Airport, Tacloban before heading to Palo Cathedral.
And at 3pm, Pope Francis arrived in Manila from Tacloban.

3rd Day of our Papal Visit Coverage.
As early as 4AM, we had our first meeting in Mendiola and at 6AM, VOTY Newsteam, Josh Castro, Maan Dela Cerna, Irish Salinas, Noreen Paculay and Geann Reyes, together with DJ Bespren Ace of Spirit FM Lucena made our first spot in Nagtahan Bridge for the Pope’s motorcade from Apostolic Nunciature to University of Sto. Tomas.
And we witnessed the motorcade, but unfortunately, he was in a closed vehicle.
Hundreds of people waited to see the Pope in this area and everyone have their own experiences and thoughts.
It was a rainy day but it wont stop our team’s dedication to cover the event.
We waited and watched for the Pope’s encounter to the youth in UST.
Maan Dela Cerna, VOTY Reporter interviewed different people of what they feel when they saw Pope Francis.
And the motorcade from UST back to his Nunciature at around 11AM.
We got this wonderful spot of seeing the Pope closer. Such a wonderful experience and be treasured for life!
Such a wonderful experience be in this historical event and with wonderful people!
