NYC TO SKs: BE THE “PAG-ASA NG BAYAN” AS ENVISIONED BY DR. JOSE RIZAL

As the nation commemorates the birth of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, the National Youth Commission (NYC) encourages the Filipino youth leaders among the ranks of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) to emulate the values of nationalism and patriotism.

“As SK leaders, you are expected to be role models of all the young people in your respective communities. Practice good citizenship, spread nationalism, be proud of our Philippine flag, be the frontliners of the government towards nation-building and do not tolerate anti-government youth propaganda, armed rebels, illegal drugs, criminality, terrorism, and corruption in your area.” NYC OIC Chairman Ronald Cardema said.

According to Assistant Secretary Cardema, who was also born in Calamba, Laguna like our national hero, and a member of the Order of the Knights of Rizal, Rizal called on the Filipino Youth more than a hundred years ago to become the catalyst for change in our society and Cardema now reminds the youthful generation of today to stand up, reform, and uplift our motherland for us to become a very powerful nation in the Southeast Asian region.

“Rizal wants the youth to change our nation. Now that we have a strongman leader like President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the millions of Filipino Youth especially the 320,000 SK Leaders of the land must now become the direct partners of our Head of State, President Rodrigo Duterte, in reporting criminality, illegal drugs, and terrorism in your areas, in orienting your barangay about disaster response, first aid, and basic survival, and in countering the anti-government youth propaganda of communist rebels. We must prove that you SK Officials are worthy descendants from the lineage of our heroes. Raise the Flag, show your nationalism, and uplift our nation.” ASec. Cardema said.
